The UFC women’s strawweight champion is set to have surgery to repair a badly broken thumb next week in Los Angeles, Ariel Helwani reported Wednesday on UFC Tonight per her co-manager Shu Hirata. After surgery, Jedrzejczyk is expected to fully recover in two months.

Jedrzejczyk (10-0) broke her thumb in a dominant third-round TKO victory over Jessica Penne in the main event of UFC Fight Night 69 on Saturday in Berlin. It was her fourth straight win in the UFC. Jedrzejczyk, 27, beat Carla Esparza for the belt at UFC 185 in March via second-round knockout.

The Poland native said over the weekend that she didn’t plan on returning to the Octagon until the end of the year, anyway. She has fought three times in the last seven months and is due for some time off. So, the thumb injury should not further delay her next fight, which very well could come against the winner of a UFC 190 bout between Claudia Gadelha and Jessica Aguilar.
