UFC strawweight champion Jessica Andrade lost her car and other personal belongings during an armed mugging in Brazil.
The new UFC strawweight champion, Jessica Andrade, alongside her wife, Fernanda Gomes, became the most recent victims of street violence in Brazil.
According to a report by Tatame, Andrade and Gomes were mugged in Niteroi, a town just one bridge away from Rio de Janeiro, and lost their Honda HRV, among other belongings such as smartphones, Fernanda revealed on her Facebook account. Thankfully, the pair was left unharmed by the assailants.
“Friends, our car was stolen, and they took our phones with it, we are out of reach for now, except for messenger. Anyone who can, please share this so we can find the car. We are safe at home,” Gomes wrote.
Andrade’s coach told MMA Fighting that both women are fine and that the car did have insurance.
A source close to Tatame also informed them that the same group who robbed Jessica’s car used the vehicle to mug another person this Thursday morning.
In her last fight, Jessica Andrade (20-6) became the UFC strawweight champion after knocking out Rose Namajunas with a highlight reel slam at UFC 237, on May 11. The win extended Bate-Estaca’s streak to four in a row, with victories over the likes of Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Tecia Torres, and Claudia Gadelha.
