Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) featherweight Diego Brandao, 28, who rose to fame after capturing the glass trophy as a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14, was released earlier today by the world’s premiere mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion.

That’s according to a report from Sherdog.com.

The Brazilian was suspended from active competition after testing positive for marijuana metabolites at the UFC 195 pay-per-view (PPV) event back in January (more on that here). “DB” then ran into even more problems when he was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon in Albuquerque, New Mexico (details).

Talk about a rough couple of months.

While plenty of rival promotions like Bellator MMA and World Series of Fighting (WSOF) — as well as ONE Championship — are always on the lookout for available talent with some name recognition, code of conduct violations have a way of scaring away potential employers.

Then again, maybe not.
