Jairzinho Rozenstruik just knocked out Alistair Overeem in the UFC DC main event.

UFC DC is in the books, and was capped off with the company’s #14 ranked heavyweight, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, stopping the #6 ranked, Alistair Overeem, with just four seconds left in the fight. Rozenstruik remains undefeated and just scored the biggest win of his career. He was behind 40-36, 39-37, and 39-37 on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.

Both men were being calculated to open the match. Overeem closed the distance and got himself a takedown, right into side control. Rozenstruik tried to scramble to his feet but Overeem was staying heavy and taking advantage of his superior ground game. Rozenstruik did not return to his feet before the bell.

Overeem closed the distance again in the second round. He pressed Rozenstruik against the fence, searching for the takedown, but couldn’t hunt it down before a referee separation. Rozenstruik was able to land a couple of punches in open space, but stayed relatively reserved.

Overeem shoved his foe against the wall early in the third, but Rozenstruik was able to explode into open space. A slow paced kickboxing bout ensued. Overeem managed to close the distance and hit a trip to take top control, where he landed some quality ground strikes before the horn.

Rozenstruik opened up in the fourth round. His landed a flurry with his hands, complete with body punches, but Overeem wore it well. Overeem would pick his shots wisely, being careful to not overcommit. Rozenstruik threw a couple of more flurries, but Overeem kept his guard high and stayed safe.

Overeem continued to close the distance in the fifth frame, but Rozenstruik did a sound job of not giving up the takedown. Just as the pedestrian round was coming to a close, Rozenstruik landed a monstrous right hand that dropped Overeem. Rozenstruik walked away and Overeem stood right up, but then started to stumble — causing the referee to stop the fight. The punch looked to have exploded Overeem’s lip. Ewwww!
