UFC Fight Island 6 odds: TKZ/Ortega goes the distance at +185

Check out the betting odds for tonight’s UFC Fight Island 6 event, where “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung is favored over “T-City” Brian Ortega in the main event.

It’s fight day for UFC Fight Island 6 which takes place tonight (October 17th) from Abu Dhabi, UAE. The featured matchup of the evening will happen in the featherweight division and will be an alleged title eliminator between “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and “T-City” Brian Ortega.

The oddsmakers have sided with the UFC’s #4 ranked 145-pounder in Jung, who is currently on a two-fight winning streak. A straight up wager on TKZ comes at a favored cost of -190, leaving the #2 rated Ortega as the betting underdog. “T-City” is making his return after nearly two years away following a tough loss to then champion Max Holloway. Ortega is offered up here at a value of +175.

Considering how dangerous both fighters are, it’s no real surprise to see that the bookies are projecting this one to end early. The prop bet ‘Fight doesn’t go to decision’ owns a strongly favored line of -245. You would have to go back and check Ortega’s pre-UFC career to find him going the distance — and to save you some time, it was RFA 12 way back in January of 2014. As for Zombie, how about WEC 48 in 2010 being the last time he saw the scorecards. You can even subtract the two years TKZ was gone on military duties, and Ortega’s 22-months hiatus, and those numbers are still impressive.

Okay, so Zombie and Ortega are known for sniffing out a finish, but they are also two names that come to mind when thinking about toughness. I mean Jung’s nickname is “The Korean Zombie” for crying out loud. After hitting him with the kitchen sink, Yair Rodriguez had to pull an elbow out of the Matrix to put him away. As for Ortega, well he has taken quite a bit of punishment during his UFC tenure, despite his ability to rally to find a finish. Holloway did put him away in the fourth-round, but Max throws unusually high volume and Ortega was able to absorb a ton of strikes before the referee ultimately stepped in. These are arguably the two toughest featherweights in the UFC, and the prop bet ‘Fight goes to decision’ holds an underdog value of +185.

Five-rounds sure is a lot time for either man to find a way to end the match, despite the proven toughness on both sides. TKZ’s two-most recent losses happened in the fourth and fifth rounds, and Ortega has his lone aforementioned fourth-frame blemish. Can the toughness on both sides hold up for at least 12.5-minutes? The over/under for this UFC Fight Island 6 main event has been set at 2.5 rounds, and both wagers here own minus lines. The ‘Under’ option can be picked up for -112, with the ‘Over’ prop bet clocking in at -103.

Being the straight up betting favorite, TKZ is also the fighter deemed most likely get the finish. The exotic option ‘Jung wins inside distance’ is at the slightest of underdog odds at +105, with ‘Ortega wins inside distance’ trending at a much higher line of +285. The bookies also peg TKZ as the one more likely to take the scorecards. ‘Jung wins by decision’ can be acquired at a sizable dog tag of +370, with ‘Ortega wins by decision’ bringing back a higher return at +530.
