Brian Ortega put on a one-sided performance against The Korean Zombie at UFC Fight Island 6.
Brian Ortega showed huge improvements in his striking as he won a unanimous decision against The Korean Zombie at UFC Fight Island 6.
What was the high point of the fight?
Both men were fairly hesitant to pull the trigger at the start of the first round. There was little action in the round until Ortega caught a kick from Zombie and dropped him with a left hand. Ortega latched on to a single leg at the start of the second round but Zombie did a good job of defending the takedown.
Ortega dropped Zombie with a spinning elbow at the end of the second, but Zombie got straight back up and landed a hard uppercut of his own. Ortega continued to dominate on the feet in the third round. A clash of heads in the fourth opened up a cut above the eye of Zombie. “T-City” continued to impress with his boxing in the final round, shutting down Zombie in every department on the feet.
Where do both men go from here?
It was an extremely impressive win for Ortega. UFC president Dana White said the winner of this fight would face Alexander Volkanovski for the title next, and given the manner in which Ortega won, nothing else makes sense for him.
The loss snaps a two-fight winning streak for Zombie. The Korean is still worthy of a top contender at 145-pounds for his next fight, so maybe a matchup against Calvin Kattar would be a fun one to make next.
Watch it now, later or never?
Ortega looked phenomenal in the fight, watch it now.
