The headliner comes in the welterweight division, with Michael Chiesa looking to extend his win streak to four when he meets veteran grinder Neil Magny. The co-main event will see Mounir Lazzez chasing a second straight win when he faces off with TUF Brazil 3 winner Warlley Alves.
This is an ESPN show and is kicking off way earlier than usual due to the time change. The eight-fight preliminary card is scheduled to start at 9am ET/6am PT on ESPN+ and ESPN. The six-fight main card will kick off at Noon ET/9am PT on the same networks.
Main Card
Michael Chiesa vs. Neil Magny
Round 1 – Chiesa with a leg kick. Jabs from Magny. They tie up briefly. Front kick to the belly from Chiesa. Magny trying to press, with no success. Magny is blocking Chiesa’s shots. Step-in left from Chiesa lands partially. Left hook from Chiesa. Magny with a right. Clinch takedown from Chiesa. He’s working in half guard. Looking for a kimura. He can’t pass to mount 10-9 Chiesa.
Round 2 – Magny defends an early takedown attempt and they clinch. Shoulder checks from Magny. Chiesa drags him to the mat. Magny looks for a triangle right away but Chiesa passes the legs. Magny is up. He looks for his own takedown but Chiesa floats to top position. He lands a hard elbow and tries to pass to a high mount. Can’t get it though. Hammerfists and shoulder pressure from Chiesa. He postures up and lands a nice elbow. 10-9 Chiesa.
Round 3 – Front kick from Chiesa and he clinches. Magny reverses him on the fence and lands some more shoulder checks. Magny steps back and throws Chiesa down on his back! Chiesa is up immediately but Magny body checks him against the fence. He briefly takes the back but Chiesa breaks. Magny lands a right on that break. Left from Chiesa. Halfway through the round. Magny stays on him against the fence with underhooks. Chiesa looks for a trip takedown but can’t get it. Then he scoops up his waist and does indeed get him down. They end up in 50/50. Chiesa rolls and ends up right into mount with an arm pinned! Magny manages to pop out but Chiesa looks for a guillotine! Can’t get it. Chiesa is on top in half. Magny lands a few punches from the bottom. 10-9 Chiesa.
Round 4 – Jab from Magny. Step-in right hook and a takedown from Chiesa. He’s in full guard this time. He lands a barrage of elbows. Chiesa moves Magny over to the fence and passes to half. He isolates an arm and tries to mount, bu can’t get it. Magny tries to get up but Chiesa jumps on his back and takes full control with a body triangle. Magny tries to spi but Chiesa uses the opportunity to mount. Magny uses the fence to push off back onto the back. Backpack time as Magny gets to his feet. Many spins again and lands a knee. Chiesa walks through it and puts Magny on the fence. They reverse position a couple of times. Magny slides down for an inverted triangle, but it’s not locked up. He lands some elbows to the body. Chiesa is just riding it out and finally pulls his head out. He’s back on top. 10-9 Chiesa.
Round 5 – Many with immediate pressure. Chiesa circles away. Jabs from Magny. Nice right hook from Chiesa. He misses with a left. He thinks he got eye-poked but the referee tells them to continue. Chiesa ties up and has a body lock. Magny breaks it and spins to his back Magny tries to drag him down but Chiesa just spins to take top position. He settles in and drops a few punches. Two minutes to go. Chiesa just eats up some time in half guard with little punches. He floats to mount with a minute to go, but Magny immediately regains half Magny ties up an arm and scrambles. Chies back to mount. That’s it, shutout. 50-45 Chiesa.
