UFC Fight Night 29 card is growing fast, and the first Brazil vs. Brazil bout of the night has been set.
Hacran Dias and Rodrigo Damm, who both desperately need a win in the UFC, will meet in a featherweight match on Oct. 9 in Barueri, Sao Paulo.
O Dia first reported the news, and Damm confirmed it to MMAFighting.com.
“There’s no easy fight in the UFC,” Damm told MMAFighting.com on Wednesday. “It’s going to be a great fight, he’s a young and hungry kid. I believe my experience will play a huge factor in this fight, but I need to train hard to win.”
Welterweights Demian Maia and Jake Shields will meet in the main event of the evening; Erick Silva and Dong Hyun Kim are the co-headliners.
Dias looks to rebound after the first loss of his UFC career, falling to Nik Lentz last May. The loss broke Dias’ nine-fight win streak, including a win over Iuri Alcantara. Twelve of Dias’ 21 career wins came by finishes, with nine submissions and three technical knockouts.
Damm, a TUF Brazil 1 contestant, is undefeated when fighting for the UFC in Brazil, with wins over Anistavio Medeiros and Mizuto Hirota. His only loss inside the Octagon came by the hands of Antonio Carvalho at UFC 154 in Canada.
