Two days after UFC Fight Night 29 in Barueri, Brazil, the Brazilian MMA Athletic Commission (CABMMA) announced the medical suspensions, and Mike Pierce was handed a 180-day medical suspension after his 31-second loss to Rousimar Palhares.
According to the CABMMA, Pierce can be cleared to compete before if the results if his MRI shows no major injuries in his knee and ankle.
Nineteen additional fighters on the UFC Fight Night 28 card received precautionary medical suspensions, including welterweight headliners Demian Maia and Jake Shields. Erick Silva, who was knocked out by Dong Hyun Kim in the co-main event, is suspended for 60 days.
