This is the UFC Fight Night 36 live blog for Charles Oliveira vs. Andy Ogle, a featherweight bout at Saturday night’s UFC event at the Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil.
Oliveira, who has lost three of his past five UFC fights, will face Ogle, who has lost two of his three UFC fights, on the main card.

Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is Mario Yamasaki. Both fighters open orthodox and Ogle tries to clinch right away, but he backs out after Oliveira drills him with a series of forward punches. Oliveira secures a double leg and immediately moves to mount. Ogle bridges, but Oliveira stays on top. Ogle stands with Oliveira on his back, but while he’s defending the choke, he’s being battered with sideways elbows and hammerfists. They fall back to the mat. Ogle is desperately trying to get his shoulders to the mat, but Oliveira is having none of it. Ogle goes turtle and manages to free one hook, but Oliveira drags him back down and secures full back control.

Round 2: The two exchange strikes before Oliveira takes the back in hastened fashion only to lose it and end up on his back with Ogle in the Brazilian’s guard. Ogle stands, but uses an Ogle body kick to take the Brit back to the mat. Ogle tries to stand, but ends up in a power guillotine. He defends and even tries to take the back of Oliveira as they separate, but eats a knee on the way up. Against the fence, Ogle lifts Oliveira high into the air and slams him into the mat, but ends up in the Brazilian’s guard. Oliveira postures for a triangle, but Ogle defends and moves to side. Ogle stands, but has his back taken in the process.

Round 3: Oliveira swarms Ogle with a series of submission attempts off an Ogle trip. The Brit defends them all and they stand just long enough for Ogle to take Oliveira to the mat, but the Brazilian stands. Two left hands land for Ogle, but Oliveira continues to press forward. Oliveira tries to trip Ogle to the mat, but he scrambles over the top and ends up putting Oliveira on his back. As Ogle tried to press forward, Oliveira locked up a triangle choke, one which Ogle tapped to almost immediately.
