UFC Fight Night 47 averages 735,000 viewers

Ryan Bader’s five-round decision win over Ovince St. Preux anchored UFC Fight Night 47, which did 735,000 viewers. The number ranked sixth among the ten Saturday night live main card events that have aired thus far since the move last summer to Fox Sports 1.

Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night from Bangor, Maine, headlined by Ryan Bader’s five-round decision win over Ovince St. Preux, did 735,000 viewers on Fox Sports (FS) 1.

Of UFC’s ten live events on Saturday night since moving to FS 1 last August, it would have been in sixth place for total viewers, which is higher than one would figure to place it given the name value of the headliners. The shows that beat it all featured far bigger stars on top, including Chael Sonnen vs. Shogun Rua,  Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi, Dan Henderson vs. Mauricio Rua, Ben Henderson vs. Rustam Khabilov and Nate Diaz vs. Gray Maynard.

The previous Saturday night show, on June 28, headlined by Cub Swanson’s win over Jeremy Stephens, did 702,000 viewers. Other main events it scored better than were, surprisingly, Vitor Belfort vs. Dan Henderson, as well as the Matt Brown vs. Erick Silva throw down and the quick Stipe Miocic vs. Fabio Maldonado bout.  

Post-fight coverage on FS 1 as part of Fox Sports Live starting at 1:04 a.m. did 428,000 viewers, the ninth most watched episode of the show to date.

The prelims on FS 2 did 116,000 viewers.
