This is the UFC Fight Night 59 live blog for Donald Cerrone vs. Benson Henderson, a lightweight bout at Sunday night’s UFC event at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.

Round 1: The referee in charge of the action is Yves Lavigne. Henderson opens southpaw, Cerrone is orthodox. Henderson landing thigh punches, but they don’t appear to be doing very much. Overhand right from Henderson clips Cerrone, but they’re still fighting in close quarters. Hard outside leg kick for Cerrone finds the mark. Outside leg kick for Cerrone scores and Henderson scores with a body kick after a failed takedown attempt. Henderson steps in with a left, but misses. Henderson punching more of Cerrone’s thigh, but Cerrone answers with a right straight to the body. Hard body kick from Cerrone, but it’s mostly blocked.

Round 2: Henderson staying busy with front-leg side kicks, but they’re not landing with much. Cerrone responds with a low kick and they clinch. Henderson throws a lead elbow and misses, but makes up for it with a body shot and leg kick. Henderson staying busy with short kicks to Cerrone’s lead legs, but isn’t landing much else. However, he does score a body shot. Hard double thigh leg kick from Henderson, although he whiffs on a check hook. Solid one-two from Cerrone from a clinch break. Cerrone secures double underhooks as Henderson charges in and takes the former champion to the floor. Henderson manages to stand without much trouble. Another hard outside leg kick for Henderson, plus a thigh punch. Jumping switch knee partially lands for Henderson, as does Cerrone’s head kick.

Round 3: Henderson goes right to work with the front leg side kick, but misses with a series of jabs. Good left hand from Cerrone though as Hendrson tries to circle out. Two good outside leg kicks now from Cerrone. Hard body shot response now from Henderson. Head kick lands for Henderson and Cerrone appears to be hurt. He tries to clinch, but Henderson pulls out. Cerrone catches a kick and tries to kick Henderson’s post leg out, but he stays on his feet. Hard knee to the body now for Henderson. Good right hook to the body scores for Henderson. He is taken down again by Cerrone, but stands up immediately. Cerrone catches Henderson again charging in with double underhooks, but the former champ wiggles free. The two trade smaller leg kicks. Henderson lands with another flying knee to the body, plus a jab as they separate. The two trade body kicks, but neither of them land.
