This is the UFC Fight Night 59 live blog for Norman Parke vs. Gleison Tibau, a lightweight bout at Sunday night’s UFC event at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass.
Parke, who is 4-0-1 over his past five fights, will face Tibau, who has won of his past five fights, on the main card.

Round 1: Both fighters open southpaw with Tibau taking center, but Parke using winding kicks to keep him at bay. Tibau charges forward with lunging punches, but misses on both. Two left hands score for Tibau, but nothing authoritative. Parke lowers his level for a fake shot and then whiffs on punches. He eats a right hook counter from the Brazilian for his efforts. Good left to the body now for Tibau. Tibau stuffs a shot in the middle of the cage and lands a left hand as he throws Parke off of him. The two clinch and Parke scores a decent knee to the body. Tibau drops for a knee tap, but Parke stuffs it while attempting a throw, but Tibau easily avoids it.

Round 2: Tibau races Parke down, which ends up in a clinch they abandon, anyway. Hard outside leg kick from the Brazilian lands and now Parke goes back to pressuring. Spinning back fist attempt from Tibau fails and now the Brazilian is pressuring Parke into the fence. Parke tries a foot sweep, but it’s easily avoided. Both fighters are trying to counter the other and missing until Tibau times a knee tap takedown and plants Parke on the mat. Parke, though, stands a few seconds later and is pressing Tibau into the fence. Parke gets reversed and taken down again, but manages to hop right up. Tibau scores a hard leg kick, which compels Parke to attempt a single, but the round ends there.
