Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is back for another round of mixed martial arts (MMA) action on FOX Sports 1, courtesy of this Saturday night’s (Feb. 6, 2016) UFC Fight Night 82: “Hendricks vs. Thompson” fight card, which takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Headlining this weekend’s big shebang is the welterweight contender fight pitting ex-division kingpin Johny Hendricks opposite kickboxing phenom Stephen Thompson. In the heavyweight co-main event, Roy Nelson and Jared Rosholt bang it out for a spot in the 265-pound title chase.

170 lbs.: Johny Hendricks vs. Stephen Thompson

Round 1: Thompson opens with a jumping switch kick. Hendricks pops him with some right hands and clinches up, looking to take Wonderboy down on the fence. Thompson stays on his feet and separates. One minute in. Side kick from Thompson, then a clean head kick that Hendricks shakes off.  Brutal punching combination, then on the counter. Anotehr counter right. Two minutes in. Big counter left stumbles Hendricks. Hendricks lands a left, eats a right and a body kick in return. Big lead right by Thompson. He is beating on Hendricks rihg tnow. Two minutes to go.

Hard combination by Thompson, then a pair of counter rights the visibly rock Hendricks. Thompson pauses for a moment after landing a groin kick, ensures that Hendricks is good, and then crushes him with a spinning back kick to the face and straight left. Hendricks goes down in a heap and Thompson has a stunning first-round stoppage.

Final result: Thompson def. Hendricks by TKO (punches)

265 lbs.: Roy Nelson vs. Jared Rosholt

Round 1: Nelson stalking forward, right hand cocked. He’s got Rosholt backed up near the fence, circling. One minute in. Counter jab by Nelson. Rosholt circles away from a combination. Overhand right just misses for Nelson. Two minutes in. Rosholt cracks him with a left. Check hook by Nelson. Rosholt avoids a right hand and tries some short-range mauling. Two minutes to go.

Rosholt circling off to his own right when pressured, avoiding the right hand. Lead hook from Roy, straight right by Rosholt. One minute to go. Stiff lefts snap Nelson’s head back. Nelson fakes a takedown, lands a left. Counters by Rosholt. 10-9 Rosholt.

Round 2: Rosholt shoots, stuffed. Roy landing some counter hooks. Rosholt staying on his bicycle. Hard low kick sends Rosholt reeling. Two minutes in. Roy slips while throwing a right hand, Rosholt can’t capitalize. Rosholt sends some waves through Roy’s belly with a kick. Two minutes to go.

Check hook by Nelson. Roy just misses with an overhand right, lands a left hook behind it. One minute to go. Hard left hook by Nelson. Rosholt pops him with a combination inside. Roy just misses with a pair of bombs before the bell. 10-9 Nelson.

Round 3: Nelson trips Rosholt up with another leg kick. Nelson shoots, stuffed and given a body kick on the way out. One minute in. Hard jab by Nelson seems to bother Rosholt. Rosholt again circles away from an overhand right. Left hook by Rosholt. Left hook, glancing right by Nelson, then a wide right as a counter to a head kick. Two minutes in. Another check hook by Nelson. Left hook once more. Leg kick. Two minutes to go.

Backfist backs Rosholt away. Nice level change by Rosholt, but he can’t finish it. One minute to go. 1-2 by Roy. Jabs and hooks on the counter. Rosholt whiffs on an uppercut , as does Nelson. Roy finally lands a right before the bell. 10-9 Nelson.

205 lbs.: Ovince Saint Preux vs. Rafael Cavalcante

Round 1: Front kick to the  body from OSP to start the fight. Low kick by Feijao. St. Preux tries to go high. One minute in. Hard right by Cavalcante. OSP may have hurt his leg or foot after landing a low kick. Feijao takes advantage with a leg kick of his own. Looks like OSP’s right foot is borked. Another hard leg kick by Feijao. Two minutes to go.

OSP checks a leg kick, limping forward. Snap kick to the body. Feijao avoids some left hands. One minute to go. BIG cross counter by Cavalcante, who immediately gets rocked by a straight left. The two slug away and Feijao stumbles to the mat, wrapping up his guard. He uses wrist control to minimize damage before the bell. 10-9 Saint Preux.

Round 2: OSP continues to advance, fires a body kick. One minute in. Not much action so far this round. Head kick attempt by OSP, then a hard front kick to the body. Two minutes in. I don’t believe Feijao has thrown a punch yet, lands a 2-3 as I type that. Stiff jabs from Saint Preux. Another body kick lands, then another. Again and Feijao trips to his back. Full guard. Two minutes to go.

Short punches from the former Volunteer. One minute to go. Hard hammerfists connect. OSP stays on top until the bell. 10-9 Saint Preux.

Round 3: OSP continuing to advance with strikes, gets backed off with a right hand. Now Feijao’s throwing heat. Blast double from Saint Preux, Feijao stays up but gets taken to the fence. Trip attempt by the Brazilian. One minute in. 3-2-2 by OSP and Feijao covers up. St. Preux scores an easy takedown into half guard against the fence. Short hammerfists from the top. Two minutes in. Feijao’s not giving anything in return as he eats short punches. Two minutes to go.

Feijao regains guard when the ref calls for action. Saint Preux not showing any urgency to finish. Crowd not happy with this mindset. One minute to go. Now Saint Preux stands and lands a massive left hand as he dives in. He ends the fight dropping heavy shots. 10-9 St. Preux.

125 lbs.: Joseph Benavidez vs. Zach Makovsky

Round 1: Benavidez starts out southpaw. Makovsky tries to shoot off a low kick, cannot do so. Body shot by Benavidez. Benavidez staying aggressvie, snuffing out level changes. One minute in. Makovsky shoots and scores a takedown, only for Benavidez to immediately stand. Joe B catches a finger in the eye, elects to continue. Good trade as he advances. Hard body blow by Benavidez. Two minutes in. Makovsky ties up, can’t do anything. Volume favors Benavidez in a big way so far as he continues attacking. Hard right hand on the break. Right hook lands in a flurry. Two minutes to go.

Head kick just misses for Benavidez. Makovsky’s showing solid defense and taking advantage of opportunities to shoot, but he can’t slow Benavidez down. Joe B continues punishing the body. One minute to go. Brutal right hands by Benavidez and Makovsky takes him down for an instant. He gets him down again and this time sneaks in a hook. Benavidez waits out the round. 10-9 Benavidez.

Round 2: Hard left hand by Makovsky to start the round, then a takedown attempt that Benavidez denies. Good body kick from Joe B, who lands a knee to counter a takedown. Front kicks to the body, flurry and a knee. One minute in. Low kick by Makovsky, rush by Benavidez. Makovsky with a counter left, eats one and a body kick from Benavidez. Spinning back fist glances off of Benavidez’s skull. Nice single-leg by Makovsky and a great scramble ensues after which Benavidez stands and cracks him with a left hook. Right hook this time. Makosky with a straight left and single-leg. Benavidez tries to roll through, settles for standing. Two minutes to go.

Benavidez with a right hand upstairs, then an uppercut as he stops a takedown. One minute to go. Brief clinch on the fence, Benavidez with a right hand on the exit. Makovsky catches a knee, takes Benavidez down, and slaps on the body triangle as Joe B stands. Benavidez peels his legs away and exits the clinch before the bell. 10-9 Benavidez.

Round 3: Makovsky with a counter left, eats an overhand right and shoots. He presses Benavidez against the fence, gets tripped up on the way out. He ties up again after avoiding a left hand. One minute in. Benavidez to the body. Benavidez snaps Makovsky down after sprawling and briefly threatens a guillotine, then whacks him with three straight right hands on the feet. Another right by Benavidez, then another. Another level change denied. Two minutes in. Benavidez continues to just stalk, landing punches and knees as Makovsky tries to hit reactive takedowns. Nice elbow in the clinch. Makovsky with a straight left, eats an overhand left soon after. Two minutes to go.

Cuffing right by Benavidez rattles Makovsky, who then eats an overhand left. Another stuffed takedown, then another. 1-2 by Joe B. Another level change by Makovsky, taking Benavidez to the fence. One minute to go. Leaping right from Benavidez. Makovsky still looking for takedowns as Benavidez attacks. Body kick, elbow by Joe B. Overhand left connects and he drops Makovsky with a right in the last few seconds. 10-9 Benavidez.

205 lbs.: Misha Cirkunov vs. Alex Nicholson

Round 1: Looping left lands for Cirkunov. Nicholson tries to come back with spinning kicks. Cirkunov stalking, winging punches and body kicks. Multiple spinning attempts by Nicholson. One minute in. Body kick from Misha, who lands a hard flurry and ties up on the fence. Nice uppercut on the way out from Cirkunov. Counter right hook and head kick by Cirkunov, who slaps on an arm-triangle when Nicholson tries to spin. He can’t get it, but lands another knee on the exit. He ducks yet another spin and trips Nicholson down. Cirkunov lands some shots on the way up but eats a knee to the junk. Two minutes to go.

Cirkunov still stalking forward. Nicholson eats a hard left straight and Misha clinches once more, landing a left hand on the exit. Check hook by Cirkunov, then another combination. Nicholson again tries a spinning elbow and avoids the resulting takedown attempt. One minute to go. Cirkunov takes him down into half guard, then side control. Nicholson gets a bit lazy in his defense and eats some hard shots until the bell. 10-9 Cirkunov.

Round 2: They engage with punches to start the round, both men landing. Cirkunov shoots, can’t get it, but hits another takedown into side control. Nicholson gives up his back and Cirkunov applies the body triangle. One minute in. Punches from Cirkunov, then a brutal neck crank that draws an instant tap.

Final result: Cirkunov def. Nicholson by submission (neck crank)

170 lbs.: Mike Pyle vs. Sean Spencer

Round 1: Spencer looking aggressive early. Body kick from Pyle. Front kick lands. Spencer looking to jab, doing so well. One minute in. Body kick from Pyle countered by a jab. Pyle clinches up on the fence, but lets him out. Low kicks by Pyle. Counter uppercut. Two minutes in. Spencer looking for jabs and body punches, eats a 1-2 by Pyle. Another right hand by Pyle and Spencer comes back with one of his own, knocking Quicksand to the mat. Pyle gets his senses about him and locks up his guard. Two minutes to go.

Spencer gets to his feet and makes distance. Spencer’s jab continues to connect. Pyle’s got some blood coming out of his mouth. One minute to go. Check hook by Pyle. Again. Double left hook connects for Spencer. Pyle tries to catch a kick and open up on the fence, landing a right hand at the bell. 10-9 Spencer.

Round 2: Oblique kick by Pyle. More jabs in return by Spencer, who walks into yet another check hook. More left hooks by Pyle. 1-2 connects. Spencer with a left hook. One minute in. Combination by Spencer, low kick by Pyle. Spencer to the body, rocked by a right hand and his lets are not there. Pyle wading forward, firing hard right hands. Spinning back fist by Pyle, glancing head kick by Spencer. Two minutes in. Pyle looking much sharper this round. Double left hook by Spencer. Two minutes to go.

Counter right by Pyle. Knee in the clinch. Both land left hands. Spinning back kick attempt. One minute to go. Another left hook by Pyle. Spencer’s jab is still a factor but he’s not getting as many power shots in. Pyle shoots and takes Spencer down against the fence. Spencer pops back up, but can’t separate before the bell. 10-9 Pyle.

Round 3: Spencer comes out strong, firing the jab. He’s throwing some hard punches in the first minute. One minute in. Good 1-2 by Spencer. Left hook. Pyle lands a knee in the clinch, then a foot sweep into a guillotine attempt. He uses it to sweep into top position. Spencer scoots to the fence. Two minutes in. Pyle controlling with the front headlock. Spencer gets his head free, Pyle still on him. Hard knee on the exit by Pyle and they trade right hands. Two minutes to go.

Pyle staying at range, lands a hard knee. Spinning back elbow badly rocks Spencer. Pyle wrecking the hell out of Spencer in the clinch with savage knees and elbows. Spencer slowly tilts to one side before one final knee sends the ref into action.

Final result: Pyle def. Spencer by TKO (strikes)

155 lbs.: Josh Burkman vs. K.J. Noons

Round 1: Low kick from Burkman. Head kick attempts. One minute in. More low kicks, one of which seems to hurt. Another good low kick from Burkman. Pretty much nothing coming back from Noons. Two minutes in. Body kick, leg kick from Burkman. Two minutes to go.

Noons literally has not landed a punch. Spinning back kick from Burkman. Burkman pursues, just falling short with his punches. Body kick from Burkman. One minute to go. Burkman chases with big shots, Noons circles off and does not throw back. Body kicks from Burkman, then a head kick that Noons finally tries to counter with a left. Both land hard in the waning seconds. 10-9 Burkman.

Round 2: Both land right hands, Noons a bit harder. Low kick by Burkman. Burkman shoots from way outside, taking Noons to the fence. Burkman keeps driving and slams Noons to the mat, looking for a guillotine on the way up. One minute in. More low kicks by Burkman. Two minutes in. Burkman whiffs on a combination. Nice left hand by Noons. Right hand exchange. The low kicks continue. Two minutes to go.

Burkman circling, lands a counter left to the body. Noons pops him on the inside with a right hand. More leg kicks by Burkman. One minute to go, Burkman to the body. Quick exchange. Noons to the body inside, Burkman comes back with a knee. Spinning back kick and back fist by Noons before the bell. 10-9 Burkman.

Round 3: Burkman immediately shoots in and wrangles Noons to the mat. Noons uses the fence to make his way back up. Burkman thwacks him with another low kick and now Noons is on the attack, landing solid punches. Burkman eats a hard punch and changes levels to no avail. One minute in. Lead hook from Burkman, then a low kick. Hard left  hook by Noons. Burkman changes levels, no success. Noons just stalking forward, landing big shots. Burkman clinches against the fence. Two minutes in. More big punches and Burkman shoots again, visibly tired. He switches to a single-leg, back to a double, no success. Two minutes to go.

Straight left lands for Burkman, then a body kick. Head kick. Burkman shoots in yet again. Burkman gets him down to a knee with a minute to go. Elbows by Noons. Burkman continues to drive, finally succeeds in slamming Noons down. Burkman takes half guard and drops punches until the bell. 10-9 Noons.

Final result: Burkman def. Noons by unanimous decision

265 lbs.: Damian Grabowski vs. Derrick Lewis

Round 1: Lewis on the advance, shrugs off a takedown and takes top position, immediately dropping bombs. Grabowski looking for a straight armbar, but gives up half guard. Full guard. One minute in. Grabowsky active from his back thus far. Lewis drops an absolute missile of a right hand that Grabowski somehow withstands. Again, and this time Lewis is in side control. Grabowski doing everything he can to improve position but getting throttled wherever he goes. Another monster right hand and Grabowski has finally had enough.

Final result: Lewis def. Grabowski by TKO (punches)

125 lbs.: Ray Borg vs. Justin Scoggins

Round 1: Scoggins sending out kicks early on, lands a pair of punches as well. Borg shoots in and nearly gets Scoggins all the way down, stymied by the whizzer. Scoggins pressing him against the fence and goes for a foot sweep. Short shots from Scoggins. One minute in. Borg manages to reverse position, but gets stymied on his shot. Scoggins reverses in return. They separate. Borg cracks him with a right hand after eating a pair of lefts, only to get clinched again. Two minutes in. Knee and blocked head kick from Scoggins. Scoggins switching stance, sending up head kicks. 1-2 connects. Two minutes to go.

Body kick from Scoggins, who gets briefly dropped to a knee by a counter. Borg shoots one more, stuffed. Whipping low kick by Scoggins. One minute to go. Wheel kick attempt. Good left to the body. Borg falls well short on another shot and pulls guard, only to get waved up. Head kick and spinning back kick to the body from Scoggins, then a left hand before the bell. 10-9 Scoggins.

Round 2: Scoggins with a spinning back kick to the face and Borg pulls full guard. Scoggins passes, Borg regains half guard. Scoggins stands, goes back to dominating on the feet. One minute in. Nice left hand by Scoggins, who takes Borg down into half guard of his own volition. A brief scramble ensues. Two minutes in. Borg sits through nicely, but Scoggins again winds up on top and whacks him with punches as he stands. Brutal punches by Scoggins but Borg backs him off with a hard right hand. Two minutes to go.

Borg slinging heavy punches but getting picked apart. Side kick and hook kick attempts by Scoggins. Borg is still game but he’s getting badly outclassed. One minute to go. They jockey for position on the fence until the bell. 10-9 Scoggins.

Round 3: Borg shoots immediately and a scramble ensues. Borg finally winds up on top. He tries to pass off a failed armbar, cannot do so. Scoggins scrambles up and slams his way free of a guillotine. One minute in. Half guard for Scoggins, who continues landing shots. Two minutes to go. Borg scoots to the fence, Scoggins flattens him back out. Borg works to stand, manages to do so. He presses forward, swinging, and gets taken down again. Two minutes to go.

Scoggins controlling from guard. Half guard now as Borg tries to rise. Borg thwarts an attempt to mount and regain guard. One minute to go. Borg desperate to stand, does so and goes for a desperation guillotine that he quickly loses. Scoggins retakes top position, avoiding an armbar before the bell. 10-9 Scoggins in an unexpectedly dominant performance.

145 lbs.: Noad Lahat vs. Diego Rivas

Round 1: Solid right hand by Rivas, then a finger in the eye. Lahat takes some time to recover, but elects to continue. Low kick from Lahat. Lahat changes levels as Rivas advances and puts him on his back in half guard. Lahat quickly passes to mount and locks up a guillotine. Rivas keeps his chin tucked and Lahat eventually releases it, beginning a scramble that sees Rivas regain half guard. Two minutes in. Full guard now. Rivas tosses up a triangle and Lahat lifts him up to break the grip. Lahat floats into back mount. Rivas goes to turtle position, tries to roll through and gives up an arm-triangle. Two minutes to go.

Rivas gives a thumbs-up as Lahat squeezes. Rivas bridges to get his arm free, but Lahat quickly takes mount and the back. One minute to go, back to the mount. Rivas makes it up to his feet, changes levels and shoots on Lahat. Lahat slaps on a guillotine and uses it to sweep into top position. 10-9 Lahat.

Round 2: Out of nowhere, Rivas channels Godofredo “Pepey” and annihilates Lahat with a flying knee. The Isreali grappler melts to the mat, completely unconscious, and Rivas has one of the year’s best knockouts thus far.

Final result: Rivas def. Lahat by KO (flying knee)

Round 1: Gall moving forward, Jackson circling. Big right hand drops Jackson against the fence and Gall quickly takes the back, locking up the rear-naked choke in seconds.

145 lbs.: Artem Lobov vs. Alex White

Round 1: Lobov plodding forward as White looks to keep him at bay with kicks. Body kick hits home, counter right by Lobov. Both land right hands near the fence. One minute in. Low kick and left hand by White. Another low kick, Lobov catches it and lands a right hand. Lobov with another counter right. Solid knee by White, then anotehr and a right hand. Two minutes in. Low kick. Lobov cracks him with another lead right. Good exchange and White knocks him back with a straight left, prompting a clinch. Two minutes to go.

Lobov pressing White against the cage. The separate after a knee from White. Lobov whiffs on an overhand, then another. Left hook connects. Big right hand by White and now Lobov’s retreating. White shoots in and brings Lobov to the mat with a minute to go. Lobov scrambles up, eating strikes along the way, and fights off a trip until the bell. 10-9 White.

Round 2: Low kick from White to start things off. Body shot connects. Lobov yet to land a punch this round a minute in. Hard exchange. They start trading bigger punches, White getting the better of it. Two minutes in. Straight left by White jacks his head back. Lobov with his hands at his waist. Body shot by White and Lobov comes back with counters. Good punches by both men. Two minutes to go.

Lobov’s left eye is not in good shape. White to the body, then a left upstairs. Lobov with a right, gets lit up by a combo and taken down. Lobov manages to get up with a little under a minute to go. Lobov swinging desperately at this point. They clinch and Lobov looks for a takedown at the bell. 10-9 White.

Round 3: White pops him with a pair of straight lefts. Body kick lands. Lobov’s still advancing but seems out of ideas as he eats another left hand. One minute in. Lobov winging haymakers and falling short with all of them. White shoots, lands in side control. Lobov scoots to the fence and attempts to stand. Two minutes in. White controlling well, taking out Lobov’s base and using a cradle when he tries to turn into him. Two minutes to go.

Lobov manages to stand and plods forwards with his hands all the way down. Lobov slinging bombs, lands a hard left hook. Overhand right by Lobov. One minute in. Another left by Lobov and White cracks him with a three-piece combo. White ducks a right hand, spins to the back. Lobov attempts a roll for a kneebar very poorly and winds up on the bottom in half guard, where he stays until the bell. 10-9 White.

Final result: White def. Lobov by unanimous decision
