Watch the highlights of Ricardo Lamas’ guillotine choke win over Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night: Dos Anjos vs. Ferguson in Mexico City, Mexico.
Charles Oliveira was ridiculously overweight for his featherweight fight vs. Ricardo Lamas, but the bout went on as scheduled, and it turned out to be a dramatic and entertaining contest. Oliveira dominated round 1, threatened with multiple submission attempts, including a rear-naked choke at the end of the round which looked to be tight, but Lamas was saved by the horn. FS1 went straight to commercial break (of course), so we didn’t know until round 2.
Lamas turned the tables on Oliveira in the 2nd round, winning with a guillotine choke that netted him a $50,000 performance bonus. You can watch the highlights at the top of the page. Here’s how Tim Burke described the fight in his play-by-play:
Round 2 – He survived. Oliveira dropped for a guillotine but Lamas is safe. He worked from side control. Oliveira rolled over but Lamas went for his own guillotine. And Lamas got the tap! Sweet justice for Oliveira missing weight.
