UFC Fight Roundup: Charles Oliveira vs. Nik Lentz rematch added to UFC Fight Night 50

Charles Oliveira asked for a rematch with Nik Lentz, and he’s going to get it.

The Brazilian grappler, who earned Performance of the Night bonuses in his last UFC wins over Andy Ogle and Hatsu Hioki, battles Lentz one more time at the UFC Fight Night 50 card in Connecticut on Sept. 5.

“I’m ready to fight anyone UFC says, but I can’t hide I have some unfinished business with Nik Lentz,” Oliveira said after his win over Hioki in June. “If I could choose, he’s the one I would like to fight next. He doesn’t have a fight scheduled and I’m coming off a win, so it makes sense that we fight again so I can beat him up one more time.”

Oliveira submitted Lentz at UFC on Versus 4 in 2011, but the result was overturned to a no-contest due to an illegal knee right before the Brazilian locked the rear-naked choke.

Both Lentz (25–6–2, 1 no-contest) and “do Bronx” (18–4, 1 no-contest) went 4-3 in the UFC since that bout. Lentz won four out of five since moving down to featherweight, and Oliveira is 4-2 at 145 pounds.

The UFC also added a featherweight bout to the UFC Fight Night 49 card in Tulsa, Okla. on Aug. 23. Ernest Chavez was forced out of the card with an injury, and Mirsad Bektic now meets Max Holloway.

Unbeaten in MMA, Bektic (8-0) defeated Chas Skelly in his Octagon debut in April. Holloway (9-3) enters the cage following wins over Will Chope and Andre Fili. UFN 49 is headlined by Ben Henderson vs. Rafael dos Anjos.

The latest fight to be shifted from the cancelled UFC 176 pay-per-view card is Gray Maynard vs. Fabricio Camoes, moving to UFC Fight Night 47 card in Bangor, Maine, on Aug. 16.

Maynard (11-3-1, 1 no-contest) looks to get back to the win column following TKO losses to Nate Diaz and T.J. Grant, while the Brazilian desperately looks for a win after back-to-back losses to Melvin Guillard and Jim Miller.
