UFC fighter rankings: Tyron Woodley moves up on P4P list
Despite barely scraping by in his welterweight title defense, Tyron Woodley has moved up the pound-for-pound list.
UFC 209 featured some very bad fights and some very good ones, but one thing it didn’t feature a lot of was relevancy. The removal on an interim lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson watered down the card to a large degree, with the 170-pound title fight and a heavyweight bout becoming the only bouts featuring two ranked competitors on the main card.
Nonetheless, there were a few changes in the rankings, including the welterweight champion moving up a bit in the P4P rankings. Here’s a look at the changes:
P4P – Woodley moved up one spot to eight for his controversial win over Stephen Thompson, passing the guy that called his fight, Dominick Cruz. T.J. Dillashaw also moved up one spot to 13, passing Khabib. Guess the panel wasn’t happy about his withdrawal.
Light Heavyweight – Jimi Manuwa is somehow the number four contender in the division now, pushing Ryan Bader to five. Voklan Oezdemir continues to climb, sitting at eight and passing the man he beat, Ovince Saint Preux. Misha Cirkunov re-enters the list at 15 after being re-signed by the promotion.
Featherweight – The three-way tie for seven has been broken, with Charles Oliveira settling into the eight slot and Yair Rodriguez down to nine. Chan Sung Jung holds seven on his own. Darren Elkins moved up two spots to 12 with his huge comeback win over Mirsad Bektic. This dropped Dooho Choi to 13. Bektic is down two to 15, allowing Renan Barao the 14 slot.
Women’s Bantamweight – Ronda Rousey dropped from a tie for two with Julianna Pena into the three spot on her own. Jessica Eye moved up into a tie for 13 with Marion Reneau.
