Charles Oliveira weighed in at 155 pounds for his UFC Fight Night 98 bout vs. Ricardo Lamas. There’s just one problem: the fight is at 145.
UFC featherweight Charles Oliveira has had a history of missing the featherweight limit, but even by his standards, this is new territory for him.
At today’s official weigh-ins for UFC Fight Night 98 in Mexico City, Mexico, “Do Bronx” stepped onto the scale and weighed a whopping 155 pounds. Ricardo Lamas had already made weight at 146, so there is no mix-up to be had here; Oliveira seriously missed weight by an entire weight class. You can watch the video of Oliveira’s miss (courtesy of IndiscutidoLA) at the top of the page. Rather amusingly, they brought in the towel, presumably in the unlikely even that Oliveira had 10 pounds worth of clothing on him.
According to MMAjunkie’s Fernanda Prates, Lamas, who’d already lost his UFC Manila main event spot vs. B.J. Penn due to a Penn injury, will still take the fight vs. Oliveira despite the ridiculous weight discrepancy.
We’re hearing Lamas will take the fight.

This is the 5th time that Oliveira has missed weight, which included a cancellation due to illness for a fight vs. Nik Lentz. Here are the previous four instances for the 27-year-old:
vs. Myles Jury (UFC on FOX 17, December 2015): 150.5 lbs
vs. Jeremy Stephens (TUF 20 Finale, December 2014): 146.5 lbs
vs. Nik Lentz (UFC Fight Night 50, September 2014): 150.5 lbs – Fight cancelled
vs. Cub Swanson (UFC 152, September 2012): 146.4 lbs
There’s no word yet on the fine for Oliveira or whether or not the UFC or local officials will even allow the fight to continue. We will keep you up to date on the full weigh-in results for the rest of the card, including streaming video of the “ceremonial weigh-ins” at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT.
