The Korean Zombie sent a message to the rest of the UFC featherweight division with his 58-second thrashing of fellow contender Renato Moicano.
The UFC Greenville main event promised fireworks between top featherweights Chan Sung Jung (aka “The Korean Zombie”) and Renato Moicano. Technically speaking, there were fireworks, but they were only delivered by The Korean Zombie, who ran through the Brazilian in just 58 seconds.
What was the high point of the fight?
Moicano threw a jab that would soon be his undoing. The Korean Zombie countered with a picture-perfect right hand (and a left for good measure) that sent Moicano crashing to the canvas in a daze. Jung looked for the finish and eventually took the back and flattened Moicano out. Several ground strikes to the head prompted the referee to intervene and call it off.
Where do these two go from here?
This is a huge win for Jung. After such a devastating last-second KO loss against Yair Rodriguez, beating a top-five fighter in Moicano immediately vaults him back into title contention. He’s certainly not that far off from a title shot as a result of such a quick and emphatic victory. A rematch with Jose Aldo would be awesome to watch, or alternatively you have Brian Ortega or Zabit Magomedsharipov as other names in the fold.
As big a W it is for The Korean Zombie, it’s a significant L for Moicano. He’s been stopped in all three of his losses, which have all come over his past five bouts. Moicano has quickly gone from the top of the division to now on the outside looking in when you bring up potential title challengers. Expect an opponent outside the top-ten for Renato when he returns to the cage, maybe even unranked like Myles Jury.
Watch it now, later or never?
C’mon! It’s a 58-second fight. The finish is literally in the video below and takes even less than 58 seconds to watch. See it now!
THAT’S IT!
