Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC Fight Night 134, which is set to hit Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany, this weekend (Sun., July 22, 2018), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more!
I don’t know if it’ll be a black sabbath, but I’m assuming there will be several shades of red involved.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hits Hamburg this Sunday for UFC Fight Night 134, live on FOX Sports 1. The main event pits the legendary “Shogun” Rua against the surging Anthony Smith, while Glover Teixeira faces Corey Anderson in the crossroads co-feature.
Viewers will also get to see local favorite Abu Azaitar against Brazilian knockout artist Vitor Miranda, while Marcin Tybura returns to heavyweight action against Stefan Struve.
Let’s see how much ultimately meaningless material wealth we can squeeze out of this day of rest.
What Went Wrong at UFC Fight Night 133?
The judging, for one, but thankfully the controversy steered well clear of the picks. Back in the black and rarin’ to go.
Undercard:
Nick Hein (-155) vs. Damir Hadzovic (+135)
Emil Meek (-165) vs. Bartosz Fabinski (+145)
Nad Narimani (-240) vs. Khalid Taha (+200)
Justin Ledet (-115) vs. Aleksandar Rakic (-105)
Manny Bermudez (-235) vs. Davey Grant (+195)
Darko Stosic (-260) vs. Jeremy Kimball (+220)
Damian Stasiak (-120) vs. Liu Pingyuan (EVEN)
Thoughts: The line that really stands out to me is Bartosz Fabinski at +145. While Meek has exponentially more name value and Fabinski is coming off a considerable layoff, the style matchup is in the Pole’s favor.
Fabinski is a Judo expert who can easily rack up double digits of takedowns over the course of 15 minutes and is strong enough to manhandle Middleweights. Meek, meanwhile, has been taken down 11 times in two UFC appearances. As dangerous as Meek is on the feet, Fabinski isn’t going to give him the time or space to get comfortable. Unless Meek can recreate his upset of Rousimar Palhares and drill Fabinski with elbows as he changes levels for his umpteenth double-leg, Fabinski’s going to throw him around all night.
Nick Hein seems to be worth a look as well. Hadzovic has had approximately three cumulative seconds in the UFC in which he was winning a fight, while Hein beat Drew Dober and was competitive against James Vick. Don’t put too much, as Hadzovic has height and reach on him, but it’s worth considering.
Main Card:
Anthony Smith (-225) vs. Mauricio Rua (+185)
Glover Teixeira (-170) vs. Corey Anderson (+150)
Abu Azaitar (-185) vs. Vitor Miranda (+160)
Marcin Tybura (-245) vs. Stefan Struve (+205)
Marc Diakiese (-190) vs. Nasrat Haqparast (+165)
Danny Roberts (-380) vs. David Zawada (+315)
Thoughts: Not nearly as confident in this pick as I am of Fabinski, but Vitor Miranda looks undervalued to me. Abu Azaitar has been out of action for nearly two years and looked iffy in his last two bouts. He’s also massively outgunned on the feet in both technique and power, and though he can wrestle, the fact that he can make Welterweight and is fighting a former Light Heavyweight suggests that he’ll struggle to muscle “Lex Luthor” to the mat.
Miranda’s 40 years old and seriously lacks urgency in his fights, but his finishing ability is enough to make him a bargain.
Best bets for UFC Fight Night 134:
Single bet-Bartosz Fabinski: $60 to make $87
Single bet-Nick Hein: $40 to make $25.80
Single bet-Vitor Miranda: $40 to make $64
