Diego Brandao was arrested on Friday (April 15, 2016) in Albuquerque, New Mexico after he was allegedly involved in a dangerous scuffle in a strip club that saw the Brazilain point a gun at patrons, hit an employee with it and threaten to bet up other people in the establishment.
As a result, Diego was arrested for the incident. Bloody Elbow has more details.
Brandao is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault and willful assault with a deadly weapon, per online records. The Brazilian’s bail was set at $15,000. He was released on Saturday night between the times of 9:30pm and 11:59pm local time. On Thursday, Brandao was allegedly present at a local strip club and after briefly leaving, was not allowed to reenter “due to his behavior,” per police. Brandao allegedly attempted to reenter the club forcefully by throwing punches. He left the scene and returned, once again, this time with a gun, according to a criminal complaint filed in Bernalillo County Metropolitan Court. Brandao charged an employee of the strip club outside the building and hit him in the face with the weapon, according to the complaint.

The Albuquerque Journal was the first to report the unfortunate incident. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) offered up a statement regarding Brandao’s situation to MMA Junkie.
“We are aware that UFC featherweight Diego Brandao was arrested Friday following an altercation at a business establishment in Albuquerque, N.M. We are in the process of gathering more information at this time.
“While we are concerned by the nature of the reported allegations, it is important to note that Brandao is entitled to due process in a court of law.
“We will have no further comment until more information can be gathered.”
The news comes just three days before Diego has to sit before the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to answer for his failed drug test earlier this year.
The arrest comes a few weeks after Diego’s fellow Jackson-Winkeljohn teammate, Jon Jones, was arrested for violating his probation after a police officer pulled him over for alleged drag racing,
