Get a detailed breakdown of the betting lines for UFC Fight Night 135, which is set to hit Pinnacle Bank Arena, Lincoln, Neb., this weekend (Sat., Aug. 25, 2018), including best bets, underdogs, favorites and much more!
Bad blood gets settled inside Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., this Saturday (Aug. 25, 2018) when all-action Justin Gaethje faces the rising James Vick in UFC Fight Night 135’s main event, which will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1. Earlier in the evening, Michael Johnson looks for his first Featherweight victory against Andre Fili, Angela Hill faces Cortney Casey, and Deiveson Figueiredo takes on John Moraga in 2018’s first non-title men’s Flyweight bout to appear on a main card.
Labor Day is right around the corner, so let’s see if we can’t raise some money for the long, fun-filled weekend.
What Went Wrong at UFC Fight Night 227?
I take full responsibility for underestimating Alex Perez and Pedro Munhoz.
Though I knew Jose Torres spends the first few minutes of every fight eating every punch that comes his way, I did not believe that Perez’s striking was enough for him to get the win before “Shorty” could get his head on straight. I was clearly wrong. Perez has consistently exceeded my expectations and I can’t wait to see where he goes from here.
On a similar note, I wrote off Pedro Munhoz’s stand up as being just basic power-punching after he struggled in the striking against Justin Scoggins, Rob Font and John Dodson. Instead, he tore up Brett Johns’ body and legs with wholly unexpected ease. My bad.
I won’t apologize for my Kyung Ho Kang pick, though. He won rounds two and three regardless of what two of the dumb judges thought.
UFC Fight Night 135 Odds For The Undercard:
Warlley Alves (-470) vs. James Krause (+375)
Cory Sandhagen (-245) vs. Iuri Alcântara (+205)
Markus Perez (-115) vs. Andrew Sanchez (-105)
Mickey Gall (-330) vs. George Sullivan (+270)
Joanne Calderwood (-160) vs. Kalindra Faria (+140)
Drew Dober (-210) vs. Jon Tuck (+175)
Rani Yahya (-115) vs. Luke Sanders (-105)
Thoughts: Even on the heels of knockout losses, I like Andrew Sanchez here.
Markus Perez’s striking looked more like performance art than a cohesive attack against Eryk Anders and, though he dominated James Bochnovic his second time out, Bochnovic is kind of not very good at fighting. That leaves his wrestling, which Sanchez can match or best, and “El Dirte” is too good to leave his neck out in transition. The stylistic edge is far enough in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner’s favor for me to overlook his recent struggles.
UFC Fight Night 135 Odds For Main Card:
James Vick (-150) vs. Justin Gaethje (+130)
Michael Johnson (-145) vs. Andre Fili (+125)
Angela Hill (-145) vs. Cortney Casey (+125)
Bryan Barberena (-500) vs. Jake Ellenberger (+400)
Deiveson Figueiredo (-145) vs. John Moraga (+125)
Eryk Anders (-750) vs. Tim Williams (+525)
Thoughts: The Justin Gaethje train isn’t off the track just yet, boys and girls.
Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier fought Justin Gaethje in just about the best ways possible and they were still barely able to walk afterward. Any Gaethje fight boils down to whether a fighter can crack his jaw before his body gives out, and I can’t imagine that 6’3” Vick’s legs standing up to 25 minutes of punishment. He could theoretically hurt “The Highlight” with a punch he doesn’t see coming, so don’t go too crazy, but I legitimately think Gaethje wins an attrition battle.
The rest of the main card is full of fights that could go pear-shaped for either combatant in an instant, so steer clear.
UFC Fight Night 135 Best Bets:
- Single bet — Andrew Sanchez: $63 to make $60
- Single bet — Justin Gaethje: $50 to make $65
Justin Gaethje is the definition of must-watch television. In other words, do not miss this!
