Jon Jones says Anderson Silva still has the magic that made him such a legendary UFC champion.
While Anderson Silva lost against Michael Bisping at UFC Fight Night 84 last night, the Brazilian was still able to exhibit some of the greatness from his championship years.
“The Spider” traded back-and-forth with Bisping for 25 minutes but thought he had won the fight after crumpling the Brit at the end of the third round. Silva bobbed, weaved and countered Bisping with flashy strikes throughout the contest but those moments were few and far between. Bisping bit down on his mouthpiece and persevered to earn a unanimous decision in front of his native supporters at the O2 Arena in London, England.
Jon Jones, who has looked up to Anderson Silva since embarking on his own MMA career, believes the Brazilian “still has it” but feels Silva should have been more aggressive throughout the fight.
I wish Anderson would have just stayed aggressive the whole time, he would have won https://t.co/76v7QkoFk1

Absolutely I saw many glimpses of greatness during that fight. He definitely still has it https://t.co/gOzhjpLNr9

Silva has struggled immensely since losing the middleweight title to Chris Weidman at UFC 162. The 40-year-old suffered a career-threatening leg fracture in the rematch and was caught using steroids against Nick Diaz at UFC 183.
Prior to UFC London, Silva said he’ll “never leave” MMA and seemed to be optimistic about the fight. However, his controversial loss to Bisping could see the former champion reassess his future in the sport.
