In the main event of UFC London, Jorge Masvidal silenced the home crowd by knocking out Darren Till in the second round.
Jorge Masvidal provided an upset result in the main event of UFC London, knocking out Darren Till in the second round.
What was the high point of the fight?
Straight after the opening bell, an oblique kick from Masvidal landed on the groin of Till and the fight was briefly halted. After the accidental low blow, Till dropped Masvidal with a straight left hand. “Gamebred” bounced back later in the round with some good boxing of his own.
Masvidal landed a takedown after an eye poke from Till caused another break in the action. A change in stance from Masvidal set up an overhand left that dropped Till and he was knocked out before he hit the floor, causing referee Marc Goddard to quickly step in and stop the fight.
Where do these two go from here?
It’s a huge disappointment for Till as he is now on a two fight losing streak in the UFC. A win in this fight would have pushed the Liverpudlian back up into title contention, but he will now need to get a few wins under his belt before earning another title shot.
Masvidal staked his claim for a title shot saying he “needs that belt wrapped around his waist.” It’s unlikely he will receive the next shot, so maybe a fight against former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos is a good one to make for Masvidal next.
Watch it now, later or never?
Watch it now, especially to see the huge left hand from Masvidal that led to the finish.
