Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight Ricardo Abreu had just one out-of-competition drug test from United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) after graduating from The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Brazil 3” reality show roughly two years back.
One is all he needed, according to Sunday’s statement from UFC.com.
“The UFC organization was notified that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Ricardo Abreu of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of this case. It is important to note that, under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, there is a full and fair review process that is afforded to all athletes before any sanctions are imposed. Additional information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.”
Zoinks!
Abreu (5-1) — just two fights into his mixed martial arts (MMA) career under the ZUFFA banner — hasn’t been seen since a split decision loss to Jake Collier at UFC Fight Night 68 just over one year ago. The 32-year-old “Demente” has yet to comment.
