Check out which fighters won performance bonuses from UFC Fight Night: Thompson vs. Pettis.
The Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN was home to a mediocre night of fights. The card saw three (T)KOs, one submission, and eight decisions.
Performances of the Night: Randa Markos, Anthony Pettis
Randa Markos and Angela Hill had a couple brief exchanges before Randa got a takedown and went immediately into side control. From there, Markos transitioned to full back control, then flipped over for an armbar attempt. Hill managed to fight her off for a few moments, but Randa finally got the arm straightened out, forcing the tap. Randa Markos gets the win and the $50,000 bonus.
Stephen Thompson looked like he was going to coast his way to a decision win in Nashville, but Anthony Pettis had other plans. The South Carolinian was landing 3-punch combos and leg kicks throughout the first round, even bloodying up Pettis in the process. Pettis returned some leg kicks of his own, but the round clearly belonged to “Wonderboy.”
In the second, Thompson’s output dropped considerably and Pettis was able to avoid any serious damage. Those 3-piece combos turned into 1-punch potshots. Then, with just a few moments left in the round, Pettis landed a huge left clock-cleaner that put Thompson down. He followed up with two big rights before the ref could intervene. Anthony Pettis gets the victory and the $50,000 bonus.
Fight of the Night: Bryce Mitchell vs. Bobby Moffett
Bryce Mitchell and Bobby Moffett put on a helluva scrap that saw both men go hell for leather, engage in wild exchanges on the ground and go for several submissions. Both men had their moments of being hurt, in danger of being submitted and just on the wrong side of the stats, but it was Bobby Moffett that ended up on the right side of the judge’s scoring. He secured the win and both men got $50,000 bonuses for their great fight.
