Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) newcomer, John Allan, has failed a United States Anti Drug Testing Agency (USADA)-administered drug test following his win over Mike Rodriguez at UFC Fight Night 155 a month ago in Sacramento, Calif.
According to MMA Fighting, Allan was popped for tamoxifen during an in-competition drug test. Tamoxifen, is an “estrogen modulator used clinically to treat and prevent breast cancer. Its estrogen-blocking properties can alleviate side effects of anabolic steroid use,” according to ESPN.
Now, Allan, will likely have his win overturned and faces a suspension from USADA, as well as California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) which could have some fines attached to it, as well.
Prior to getting the call up to the big leagues, Allan (26) — who competes at Light Heavyweight — had racked up a 13-5 record, coming up short in his fight on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series (DWTNCS) a year ago.
On the heels of his failed drug test, there is no telling if UFC will have him back. Because as we know, the promotion isn’t opposed to severing ties at the drop of a hat.
