Conor McGregor tries to steal the limelight from Dustin Poirier.
You didn’t expect Conor McGregor to give Dustin Poirier props for his Fight of the Night win over Dan Hooker at UFC on ESPN 12, did you?
Rather than compliment Poirier on his performance, McGregor retweeted a video of his knockout win over Poirier from their 2014 featherweight bout at UFC 178, which saw ‘The Notorious’ TKO ‘The Diamond’ in the first round.

A lot has changed since that night, with McGregor going on to win the UFC featherweight and lightweight titles and Poirier moving up in weight to solidify himself as a top-three UFC lightweight contender.
Right now, however, McGregor is retired while Poirier is climbing his way back to a title shot. The former UFC interim lightweight champ holds wins over the likes of Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway and is hoping his latest win over Hooker inches him closer to a rematch with Khabib Nurmagomedov, who submitted Poirier in their lightweight title unification bout at UFC 242.
McGregor, who was also submitted by Nurmagomedov, retired earlier this month due to boredom. The former two-division champ said there were a lack of interesting matchups available and that the UFC tried to exert too much power over him in negotiations.
