2014 has been a lucrative year for Robbie Lawler, and Saturday night was no exception. Lawler led the reported payroll for UFC on FOX 12, pocketing $210,000 for his hard-fought main event win over Matt Brown, according to figures released by the California State Athletic Commission.
Lawler traded heavy leather with Brown for 25 tense minutes at the SAP Center in San Jose, CA, ultimately snapping Brown’s remarkable seven-fight win streak and earning another shot at UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks. Brown took home $46,000 for his losing efforts.
Elsewhere, fellow main card fighters Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Anthony Johnson also pulled in six-figure payday for their work at UFC on FOX 12. Johnson needed just 44 seconds to steamroll through the Brazilian veteran in the night’s co-main event, although it was Nogueira who took home the heftier salary, earning a $114,000 purse to Johnson’s $106,000.
Strikeforce veterans Josh Thomson and Jorge Masvidal were the only other fighters to earn salaries that cleared $50,000, as Thomson pulled in $85,000 for his split decision loss to Bobby Green, while Masvidal pocketed $84,000 for his undercard victory over Daron Cruickshank.
As always, the entire UFC on FOX 12 payroll can be seen below, although these figures do not represent a fighter’s total earnings, as sponsorship money and discretionary post-fight bonuses are not publicly disclosed.
Additionally, Lawler, Brown, Johnson and Dennis Bermudez each earned $50,000 post-fight bonuses for their work.
