Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos was among eight fighters who received six-month medical suspensions in the aftermath of December’s UFC on FOX 13 event, according to information released to MMAFighting.com by the Arizona Boxing and MMA Commission.
Dos Santos won a gritty unanimous decision against heavyweight contender Stipe Miocic in the night’s main event, which aired live on FOX, however the Brazilian will now be forced to provide a negative CT scan after sustaining 102 strikes at the hands of Miocic throughout the 25-minute fight, or be forced to sit out 180 days (retroactive to fight night) until his next bout.
In addition to dos Santos, seven other fighters received potential 180-day medical suspensions as a result of damage they suffered during UFC on FOX 13: Matt Mitrione, Joe Riggs, John Moraga, Jamie Varner, Joe Ellenberger, Henry Cejudo, and Anthony Birchak.
UFC on FOX 13 took place Dec. 13, 2014, at the U.S. Airways Center in Phoenix, AZ.
