Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is bringing mixed martial arts (MMA) fans free fisticuffs this Saturday night (Aug. 27, 2016) by way of the UFC on FOX 21: “Maia vs. Condit” combat sports event, taking place inside Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
That’s where top welterweight contenders Demian Maia and Carlos Condit will throw down, with the winner having a very strong argument for the next crack at the division crown. In the UFC on FOX 21 co-main event, former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis makes his featherweight debut opposite Charles Oliveira.

Alvey grabs the plum, knees the body. Uppercut from Casey. Casey scores a brief takedown, can’t keep him down. One minute to go. Knees by Alvey. They trade knees to the body. Elbows by Alvey, a hard kne, and a flurry before the bell. 10-9 Alvey, I guess.
Round 2: Casey sticks out a jab. Left lands for him. One minute in. Casey with leg kicks. Alvey with a right downstairs. More jabs by Casey. Flurry from Alvey. BIG left hand and down goes Casey. He tries to pound him out, can’t do so, and waves Casey up. Two minutes in. Alvey with some more life in him now, stalking forward. Two minutes to go.
Straight left by Casey. Alvey looking for 1-2s. 3-2 dings Casey. Hard counter left forces Casey to tie up, he eats a knee before they separate. One minute to go. Not a lot from Casey at the moment. Alvey slings a four-piece combo and the left at the end knocks Casey down again. Alvey blasts him with ground-and-pound until the referee steps in.

Round 1: Barzola catches a low kick, can’t land the counter. Bochniak low kick. One minute in. Lead right by Bochniak, counters come back. Barzola tossing out kicks. Barzola leg kick. Two minutes in. Another leg kick. Wheel kick attempt and a teep as Bochniak tries to rush. They tie upon the fence for a second. Bochniak leg kick. Two minutes in.
Barzola just misses with a spinning back fist. Good knee inside. Bochniak lands a leg kick, then takes advantage of a spin to score a takedown. Half guard for Bochniak. Bochniak tries to go to mount and Barzola scrambles up, clinching on the cage. One minute to go. Barzol lands a knee on the exit. Bochniak low kick and a hard right hand that stings Barzola. Both try takedowns, nothing there. Barzola tries to catch a kick, can’t use it. 10-9 Barzola.
Round 2: Good right hand by Bochniak, who eats a leg kick. Nice uppercut by Barzola rattles him. Bochniak right hand. Barzola shoots, can’t keep him down. One minute in. Teep from the Peruvian. Both whiff on combinations. Barzola tries to spin. Right by Bochniak, leg kick lands and Barzola trips him down. He pops back up. Two minutes in. Barzola again tries to catch a leg kick. Leg kick of his own after trying to counter Bochniak’s. Two minutes to go.
Neither man’s landing very clean with their punches at the moment. Barzola body kick and Bochniak lands a left hook. Counter right by Barzola off a low kick. 1-2 by Bochniak. Body kick-left hand by Barzola. Barzola ducks a right hand and hits a pair of takedowns in the scramble. 10-9 Barzola.
Round 3: More quick movement to start the round. Barzola catches a low kick and comes back with a body kick. One minute in. Right hand from Bochniak and a long combination, leg kick afterwards. Bochniak looking more aggressive this round. Barzola leg kick. Two minutes in. Bochniak slings some 1-2s, eats a counter right. Barzola nearly hits a reactive takedown. 1-2 from Bochniak. Barzola hits a double-leg off a low kick, can’t keep him down. Barzola again catches a leg kick but can’t use it. One minute to go. Bochniak shoots, can’t get it. Round 1: Di Chirico with a counter right early on. He lands it two more times, all off of leg kicks, and ties up on the fence. They jockey for position. One minute in. Di Chirico with a combo on the exit. Counter left hook lands clean. McLellan tries a head kick, lands a hard lead uppercut. Straight left and body kick, caught. Two minutes in. Di Chirico bleeding rom above his left eye, still looking for counter. Both land lefts. McLellan to the body, Two minutes to go.
Di Chirico tries to go high, eats a low kick. Counter right from the Italian. McLellan lands that same uppercut once again. Combination by the South African, then body shots. One minute to go. Di Chirico goes for a knee tap, no dice. Still looking for counters. McLellan jumps for a knee as Di Chirico spins and they briefly clinch. 10-9 McLellan.
Round 2: Check hook by Di Chirico. McLellan hits a nice takedown, setting up in guard. Di Chirico scrambles to his feet, McLellan attached to his leg, and crushes him with Browne elbows. The South African falls and Di Chirico pounces, but can’t finish him off. McLellan makes it to his feet and they trade inside. Left hook by McLellan. He looks winded, eats a straight right. Di Chirico ties up on the fence. Two minutes in. They separate and Di Chirico lands right hands. McLellan shoots, stuffed. Di Chirico catches a kick and scores a takedown of his own. Half guard for the Italian. Two minutes to go.
Good scramble by McLellan and he gets to his feet. Counter right from Di Chirico. He tries to spin and they exchange at point-blank. McLellan is running out of steam. Spinning elbow from Di Chirico and some clinchwork. McLellan answering on the inside with uppercuts. One minute to go. McLellan changes levels, Di Chirico stuffs it and reverses position on the fence. Di Chirico smacks him a few more times before the bell. 10-9 Di Chirico.
Round 3: 1-2 from McLellan and he stuffs a double-leg. Hard right hand upstairs. Left hook by Di Chirico. McLellan shoots, gets briefly tripped. He pops up, so Di Chirico scores another takedown. McLellan has a headlock but Chirico’s on the wrong side in half guard. Di Chirico hops to mount and takes the back as McLellan stands. He’s a little high and McLellan manages to take top position. Half guard now. Two minutes in. Di Chirico gets his feet under him and stands. Elbow by the Italian. Big 2-3 has McLellan retreating. He comes back with a 1-2, eats a big counter right. Two minutes to go.
Di Chirico cracks him with a straight right and a knee, so McLellan changes levels. Elbows by Di Chirico as he defends. They separate and McLellan shoots again. They separate. Right hand by Di Chirico. One minute to go. They’re both exhausted. McLellan shoots and spins Di Chirico to the mat. The Italian elbows his body as McLellan stays attached to his hips. Di Chirico tries to scramble up before the bell. 10-9 Di Chirico.

Round 1: Leg kick and counter right from Campbell as Silva wades into the plum. Knees by the Brazilian, elbow on the break. Campbell leg kick. Campbell avoids a flurry, lands a counter right. One minute in. Silva digs in a body shot, then clubs him with a combo over the top that knocks him to the mat. Campbell curls up, feeling the effects of the body shot, and Silva slams home punches until the ref steps in.
Final result: Silva def. Campbell by TKO (punches)

155 lbs.: Thibault Gouti vs. Chad Laprise
Round 1: Laprise with an early leg kick and left hook. Another leg kick, eats an uppercut. Check hook by the Canadian and they tie up. One minute in. Laprise pressing him against the cage. They separate and Gouti chases after him, only to get plunked with a counter right that takes his legs out. Gouti tries desperately to stagger back to his feet, eating punches all the way, only to get dropped again by an uppercut from behind. The referee rushes in to save the still-scrambled Gouti for Laprise’s first UFC finish.
Final result: Laprise def. Gouti by TKO (punches)

155 lbs.: Jeremy Kennedy vs. Alex Ricci
Round 1: Both land short punches in the first ten seconds. Right hand from Kennedy and he ties up on the fence. Ricci reverses as the crowd chants “JBC.” Short knees by Ricci to the knees and thighs. One minute in. Kenedy again pressing him against the cage, eats a knee to the gut and separates. Knees by Ricci and Kennedy cracks him with punches inside. Another shot from Kennedy. Two minutes in. Good elbow by Kennedy on the break. Another hard knee by Ricci. Body kick this time, Kennedy ties up once again and fights for an outside trip. Two minutes to go.
Elbow by Ricci, Kennedy answers in kind and they separate. Kennedy swings and ducks back in. One minute to go. Ricci lands a knee from the plum, eats a body kick, lands a head kick before the next shot. Kennedy gets him down this time, can’t keep him there. Ricci presses him against the fence with the bodylock until the bell. 10-9 Kennedy.
Round 2: Ricci again opens with a knee and they exchange punches. Kennedy aggressive, changes levels for a takedown. Ricci defending with over-unders. One minute in. They trade some short knees and Kennedy brings him to a knee. Ricci pops up to his feet, eats a pair of elbows before they separate. Kennedy steps right back into the clinch. Two minutes to go.
Knee to the body by Kennedy and they trade hard blows before the next takedown attempt. He gets him to his seat on the fence. Ricci gets to his feet and takes outside position on the fence. One minute to go. The referee breaks them up. Kennedy forces Ricci back to the fence with punches and ties up once more before the bell. 10-9 Kennedy.
Round 3: Ricci backs to the fence again and Kennedy slugs his way back to the clinch. Ricci grabs the plum and looks for a takedown. Kennedy reverses position on the cage. One minute in. Ricci reverses, eats a right hand as Kennedy shoots. He pulls Ricci’s hips out and takes him down. Ricci works his way up. Riicci looks for an anaconda as Kennedy pulls him down again. Two minutes to go.
Kennedy pops his head free. Ricci just can’t make space. One minute to go. Another takedown by Kennedy he tries to drop punches before the bell. 10-9 Kennedy.
