Santiago Ponzinibbio waged war with Mike Perry to earn a unanimous decision win at UFC on FOX 26.

At UFC on FOX 26 the UFC’s #10 welterweight Santiago Ponzinibbio picked up a hard fought unanimous decision over the very game Mike Perry. Both warriors gave it their all, blooding up the other man in a highly entertaining display of heart and courage, but it was Ponzinibbio who was getting the better of the exchanges. Ponzinibbio showed up to this fight on a 5-fight UFC winning streak, including big wins over Gunnar Nelson and Nordine Taleb, and with a win over Perry, you can expect to see Ponzinibbio against another high profile name in his next outing.

Santiago Ponzinibbio def. Mike Perry by Unanimous Decision (29-28 x3): Welterweight

Perry took the center right away as Ponzinibbio skirted around on the outside, looking to avoid the power of his opponent. Ponzinibbio landed a couple of outside leg kicks, but appeared to be sat down by an overhand right from Perry. A liver kick set up another overhand right from Perry that stunned Ponzinibbio, but Ponzinibbio recovered rather quickly, and began to return fire of his own.

Ponzinibbio returned to the leg lick to open up the second stanza, but was clipped by a left hook that had him stumbling. Perry followed up by switching stances and throwing a hard right cross that again physically moved Ponzinibbio. The left hook for Ponzinibbio began to land with some frequency, setting up a blitzing flurry that backed Perry up to the cage. Ponzinibbio continued to throw combinations, but despite the visible damage, Perry somehow pressed forward, winging shots and connecting.

Perry came out looking to press the action in the final round, with Ponzinibbio leaking like a faucet from the nose. Perry connected with a heavy right hand, chased after his opponent, but ate a banger of a spinning backfist that sent “Platinum” crashing to the canvas. Ponzinibbio worked top position, but Perry slipped out and returned to open space. A big left hook landed for Ponzinibbio that set up a double leg takedown, but Perry returned to his feet in the closing moments for one last hurrah. When the dust settled, it was Ponzinibbio who walked away with the decision victory.
