Two Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Featherweight bangers on the heels of knockout victories do battle inside Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., this Saturday evening (Feb. 24, 2018) when Jeremy Stephens takes on Josh Emmett in the main event of UFC on FOX 28.

The four-fight broadcast also includes a clash between top-tier women’s Strawweight contenders Jessica Andrade and Tecia Torres, a Light Heavyweight throwdown between the heavy-handed Ovince Saint Preux and Ilir Latifi, and what ought to be a genuine banger between Mike Perry and Max Griffin.

Valentine’s Day is over, but your special someone could always use more treats. Here’s how to afford them:

What Went Wrong at UFC Fight Night 126?

For one, I didn’t recommend nearly enough money on Roberto Sanchez. For two, James Vick took Francisco Trinaldo’s punches much better than I expected. Trinaldo didn’t have nearly as much success pressuring as I anticipated, but I stand by my assessment that he was sorely undervalued by the bookies. Vick will get flattened someday soon, though. You can quote me on that.

UFC on FOX 28 Undercard Odds:

Renan Barao (-155) vs. Brian Kelleher (+135)
Sara McMann (-220) vs. Marion Reneau (+180)
Angela Hill (-145) vs. Maryna Moroz (+125)
Alan Jouban (-240) vs. Ben Saunders (+200)
Olivier Aubin-Mercier (-170) vs. Gilbert Burns (+130)
Marcin Prachnio (-285) vs. Sam Alvey (+205)
Rani Yahya (-400) vs. Russell Doane (+280)
Alex Perez (-190) vs. Eric Shelton (+150)
Manny Bermudez (-195) vs. Albert Morales (+155)

Thoughts: I see quite a bit of potential here. Brian Kelleher, Gilbert Burns and Eric Shelton all look like quality underdog investments.

Barao has not looked good, even in victory, since 2014. He looked pedestrian against Phillipe Nover and showed rock-bottom fight IQ against Jeremy Stephens and Aljamain Sterling, both of whom he had the skills to dominate. He’s also cutting to 135 pounds without an IV, which he’s flat-out not allowed to do in at least one state because of the effects on his health. Kelleher is durable and relentless, which is enough to get me leaning his way.

The last time Aubin-Mercier took on a world-class Brazilian jiu-jitsu artist, he got dominated for three rounds. Burns is certainly capable of recreating Diego Ferreira’s triumph, especially since he’s a more complete kickboxer with every bit as much stopping power in his strikes. “Durinho” for the win.

There’s a difference between dominating the likes of Carls Jon de Tomas and giving Tim Elliott a run for his money. Alex Perez — despite having more professional fights — doesn’t have anywhere near Shelton’s level of experience against the cream of the crop. Shelton can hold his own wherever the fight goes, so expect him to earn the victory.

UFC on FOX 28 Main Card Odds:

Jeremy Stephens (-165) vs. Josh Emmett (+145)
Jessica Andrade (-320) vs. Tecia Torres (+260)
Ovince Saint Preux (-120) vs. Ilir Latifi (EVEN)
Mike Perry (-340) vs. Max Griffn (+280)

Thoughts: All of these fights, save perhaps for Andrade vs. Torres, could turn on a dime, so I would not recommend putting any money on them. Even the exception is worth staying away from, as Torres has upset potential, but isn’t a sufficiently live dog to justify putting money on.

UFC on FOX 28 Best Bets:

  • Single bet — Brian Kelleher: Bet $50 to make $67.50
  • Single bet — Gilbert Burns: Bet $60 to make $78
  • Single bet — Eric Shelton: Bet $80 to make $104

There are lot of folks who are going to get knocked senseless, methinks, so be sure you’re there to watch. See you Saturday, Maniacs!
