LOS ANGELES — All four fighters in Saturday’s light heavyweight title shot sweepstakes have passed their first hurdle.
Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Brandon Vera, Lyoto Machida and Ryan Bader all made weight for their co-main event bouts Friday for Saturday’s UFC on FOX 4 card at the Staples Center.
Rua, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, clocked in at 205 pounds for his bout with Brandon Vera. Vera clocked in at 203.8.
Machida, also a former UFC light heavyweight champ, came in well under the limit at 201 pounds. Bader, his opponent, was 205.
All 20 fighters on the card made weight for the event.
