In the first bout of a new multi-fight deal, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson cashed in to the tune of a $200,000 payout for his defense against Gilbert Melendez at UFC on FOX 7.
Henderson earned a $100,000 purse as well as a $100,000 win bonus for the outing, according to numbers released by the California state athletic commission to MMA Weekly. He won the five-round fight via split-decision, marking his third successful defense.
His opponent Melendez wasn’t far behind him, taking home $175,000 in defeat.
Frank Mir tied Henderson for the night’s highest-earning performer, also receiving a $200,000 check, although his payday came in defeat, as he lost a unanimous decision to Daniel Cormier.
Cormier earned $126,000.
