Six fighters joined UFC® President Dana White at the UFC® on FUEL TV 9 post-fight press conference – Gegard Mousasi, Ilir Latifi, Conor McGregor, Brad Pickett, Tor Troeng, and Reza Madadi.
Madadi took home Submission of the Night for his third-round tapout of TUF alum Michael Johnson. After surviving a vicious Johnson head kick at the end of the first round, “Mad Dog” began to assert himself late in the second frame. In the third round, Madadi secured a takedown before locking in the fight-ending d’arce choke.
Newcomer McGregor earned Knockout of the Night for his first-round stoppage of Marcus Brimage. McGregor showed off excellent striking and footwork, tagging Brimage with uppercuts and jab. After landing a blow that caused Brimage’s knees to buckle, McGregor followed up with ground strikes until the ref stepped in to wave off the fight.
Fight of the Night went to Pickett and opponent Mike Easton. The bantamweights engaged in an exciting, back-and-forth brawl that saw plenty of action on the feet and on the ground. Pickett was ultimately awarded a split decision victory.
