Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall are ready to fight for a UFC title shot. Again.
Johnson and McCall were all smiles as they tipped the scales in advance of their flyweight semi-final rematch at Thursday’s UFC on FX 3 weigh-ins, with “Mighty Mouse” checking in at a trim 125 pounds and “Uncle Creepy” barely edging him at 126 pounds.
Both men went through this song and dance once before, colliding at UFC on FX 2 before a scoring error left the match in a draw and robbed fight fans of what was sure to be a legendary fourth round. This time, however, the flyweights are the headlining showcase, and neither man expects the judges to intervene.
“I’m going to make a prediction,” McCall declared. “I’m going to finish him in three (rounds).”
“Good luck,” Johnson quickly shot back. “I don’t give predictions, but I feel great and it’s going to be a great fight tomorrow night.”
In the co-main event, welterweight up-and-comer Erick Silva looks to rebound after notching his first loss since 2006, a controversial disqualification at UFC 142. The 27-year-old Silva weighed in at a slim 169 pounds, while his opponent Charlie Brenneman tipped the scale two pounds larger, coming in at 171 pounds.
