The first half of the UFC’s back-to-back weekend is off to a good start. Refocused lightweight contenders Gray Maynard and Clay Guida both made weight at Thursday’s UFC on FX 4 weigh-ins, rendering their headlining tilt official.

Maynard, fighting for the first time since his championship loss to Frankie Edgar, tipped the scales at 155 pounds. Likewise Guida, looking to rebound after a failed title eliminator against Ben Henderson, checked in at a trim 155 pounds.

Despite being forced to braid his trademark locks because of a complaint from his opponent’s camp, Guida hasn’t been bothered by the distractions. In fact, the fighter believes he is in the best shape of his life.

“I’ve cleaned up my diet a little bit, haven’t had as many In-and-Out burgers as I normally do before a fight,” Guida said afterward. “Strong mind, strong body. I’m going to get my hand raised, and when they lose to a junior college wrestler, they’ll probably feel bad.”

Maynard, meanwhile, expects the past nine months spent traveling from camp to camp to have served him well.

“I prepared hard, changed up a lot of stuff. It was definitely eye-opening,” he explained. “Made me change a lot of things and I feel like I’m a new man. You’re always trying to evolve and create new ‘yous,’ so here I am. Let’s go.”

In the night’s co-main event, veteran lightweight Sam Stout and Spencer Fisher look to settle a score five years in the making. The pair have met twice before, with Stout taking a split decision back at UFC 58, and Fisher winning the rematch a year later. For their featured rubber match, Stout weighed in at 155.5 pounds, while Fisher, who may retire following the match, landed at 156 pounds.

Undercard competitor C.J. Keith missed weight on his first attempt, tipping the scales at 157 pounds, one pound over the lightweight limit. Keith has an additional hour to loss the weight for his UFC debut.
