Tough weekend for Brazil.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) said goodbye to light heavyweight sluggers Rafael Cavalcante and Daniel Sarafian this past weekend, according to a report from Olimpo MMA, after both fighters suffered losses back in February.
Cavalcante (12-7, 1 NC) — the only person to beat Yoel Romero (besides USADA) — once held the light heavyweight strap under the Strikeforce banner. Unfortunately, “Feijao” was unable to replicate that success after crossing over, managing a meager 1-4 record and getting knocked out twice in the process.
Sarafian (9-6) didn’t fare much better. Once a highly-touted prospect on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF): “Brazil,” the former finalist scraped together a 2-4 run inside the Octagon. He was last seen looking up at the lights against Oluwale Bamgbose in Pittsburgh.
While no fighter wants to be let go for underperforming, both thirty-something combatants will have a chance to rebound in competing promotions like Bellator MMA, ONE Championship, or World Series of Fighting.
Or maybe even here.
