Daniel Cormier’s retirement meant he was removed from the heavyweight and pound-for-pound lists.
UFC Vegas 9 was a bit of a bust. As with other recent cards, COVID and injuries destroyed a bunch of the fights, leaving the event with just seven bouts – and only two of any relevance rankings-wise. Alistair Overeem picked up a nice win over Augusto Sakai in the main event, and Viviane Araujo moved up a bit with her win.
Everything else? Didn’t matter much.
The one thing that did cause a ratings ripple this week was the removal of former two-division champion Daniel Cormier, who has now officially retired.
Here’s a look at the changes this week.
Men’s P4P – DC was in the seven spot, but he’s out. Five fighters – Justin Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, and Petr Yan – moved up one spot each to seven through eleven. Tanner Boser enters the rankings for the first time at 15. Sakai is out.
Light Heavyweight – Shogun Rua drops from a tie for 13 to take over 14 on his own.
