Urijah Faber is back in the UFC rankings after a quick win in Sacramento.
Urijah Faber is back. The 40-year-old pioneer of the lower weights came out of retirement in his home town of Sacramento to take a fight with up-and-comer Ricky Simon this weekend, and knocked the prospect out in under a minute. That earned Faber another chance to grace the UFC bantamweight rankings this week.
There are other familiar faces, and a couple of new ones, that entered the rankings coming out of UFC Sacramento. Julianna Pena is back right into the top five at women’s bantamweight. Sergio Pettis and Brandon Moreno are back at flyweight. And Ryan Hall makes his rankings debut after a big win over Darren Elkins.
Here’s a look at all the changes this week.
P4P – Robert Whittaker is up two spots to eight for some reason, while Dustin Poirier fell two spots to ten.
Heavyweight – No changes.
Light Heavyweight – Alexander Gustafsson is up one into a tie for five, even though he’s supposedly retired.
Middleweight – Uriah Hall and Brad Tavares flip-flopped the 11 and 12 spots.
Welterweight – Leon Edwards dropped from a tie for 11 to taking over 12 on his own.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – Josh Emmett is up one to nine after his big win over Mirsad Bektic on the weekend. That bumped Renato Moicano down to ten. Bektic dropped three spots to 15, which allowed Arnold Allen and Shane Burgos to move up a spot to 12 and 13. Hall enters at 14 after his win over Elkins.
Bantamweight – Faber enters at 14. Thomas Almeida drops one to 15.
Flyweight – They’ve filled up the list to a full 15 again! Sergio Pettis is back in the 125 rankings at six. Rogerio Bontorin drops one to seven. Ryan Benoit is down one to nine. Brandon Moreno is back in the UFC and in at ten. Kai-Kara France, Alex Perez, Raulian Paiva, and Matt Schnell all fell two spots each to assume 11 through 14. Mark De La Rosa is in at 15.
Women’s Bantamweight – Pena’s win over Nicco Montano has her right back in the mix at four. Basically everyone else fell a spot all the way through five to 13. Viviane Araujo enters at 15.
