Jorge Masvidal’s big KO win over Darren Till put the welterweight rankings on their head this week.
UFC London wasn’t exactly stacked with ranked fighters, but the main event sure did bring about some upheaval in one division. Jorge Masvidal was the star of the weekend, knocking out Darren Till in the main event and then giving Leon Edwards “the three piece with a soda” backstage. His win saw him catch fire in the rankings, where he’s now a bonafide contender at 170 pounds.
Beyond that though, there was little to nothing to write home about. Dominick Reyes moved up a few spots at 205 pounds after a decision win. But that’s about it.
Here’s a look at the changes this week.
P4P – Kamaru Usman is up one spot to eight, dropping Conor McGregor to nine.
Heavyweight – No changes.
Light Heavyweight – Reyes’ close win over Volkan Oezdemir has him in the top five for the first time. He’s up three spots to five, while Jan Blachowicz, Oezdemir, and Corey Anderson move down one and sit at six through eight respectively.
Middleweight – No changes.
Welterweight – Till tumbles four spots to seven after the KO loss. This allows Stephen Thompson and Rafael dos Anjos to move up one spot to three and four respectively. Masvidal is up six big spots to crack the top five. Santiago Ponzinibbio and Robbie Lawler are down one each to eight and nine. Demian Maia is down two to 11. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos is up one to 13, while Gunnar Nelson falls one to 14 after a loss to Leon Edwards. Vicente Luque is back in at 15.
Lightweight – No changes.
Featherweight – No changes.
Bantamweight – No changes.
Flyweight – T.J. Dillashaw somehow keeps climbing. He’s in a tie for nine now.
Women’s Bantamweight – No changes.
Women’s Flyweight – No changes.
Women’s Strawweight – No changes.
