Barb Honchak’s UFC career has come to an end after just two fights.
Former Invicta FC women’s flyweight champion Barb Honchak was a win away from challenging for the UFC women’s flyweight title. Now she’s no longer on the UFC roster.
Honchak confirmed with MMA Fighting (following a report from The Body Lock) that she’s been released, and indeed that’s been the case since last August, one month after her most recent fight.
The 39-year-old Honchak won the Invicta FC title in 2013 when she beat Vanessa Porto by unanimous decision. She defended the belt successfully twice after that, but injuries led to her not fighting again for more nearly three years. Honchak was chosen for season 26 of The Ultimate Fighter, which sought to crown the inaugural UFC women’s 125 lbs champion. She made it all the way to the semifinals, losing to eventual winner Nicco Montano by unanimous decision.
Honchak fought on the TUF 26 Finale in December 2017, dropping a decision to Lauren Murphy. A TKO loss to Roxanne Modafferi soon followed at the TUF 27 Finale, and as it turned out, her UFC pink slip soon followed.
While she’s still a free agent, Honchack told MMA Fighting that she is currently “coaching and training at her gym in Washington state.”
