Anthony Johnson’s apparently incendiary encounter with a woman at the gym is under investigation.
The UFC released a statement regarding the incident and Johnson’s subsequent angry Facebook rant Wednesday night. An investigation by a third-party law firm will commence, the statement read.
On Tuesday, Johnson wrote on Facebook that he picked up the yoga mat from under a woman who was attempting to stretch on it near where people were weightlifting at his gym and tossed it. “Rumble” referred to the woman as “ugly,” in addition to other insults, in the post.
Johnson apologized for his actions and his Facebook post Wednesday. The UFC light heavyweight fighter has a history with domestic violence. He was suspended by the UFC after accusations of abuse were made last year and pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge in 2010.
