Eddie Mercado & Dayne Fox are here to breakdown UFC on ESPN+ 25/Fight Night 167/UFC Rio Rancho with hot takes, possible next fights, as well as reactions to the overall event.
This Saturday’s, Feb 15. 25th., UFC Fight Night event, from the Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico, featured Corey ‘Overtime’ Anderson #6 Ranked Light Heavyweight entering the octagon tonight on a four-fight win streak for this highly anticipated rematch, but subsequently breaking that streak when he was swiftly defeated by the Polish champion, Jan Blachowicz, at just 3:08 of Round 1 of 5 via KO/TKO-Right Hook, leaving Jan with a new record showing three wins in a row now; thus turning the tables in their second face-off, as Corey was the victor in their prior match-up on Sept. 5, 2015; also on the card, was a disappointing co-main event showcasing the more experienced Lightweight, Diego ‘Nightmare’ Sanchez, who was the declared the winner via Disqualification, thanks to our second illegal knee tonight, which was thrown by Michel Pereira at 3:09 of Round 3; our first Disqualification via Illegal Knee occurred at 4:02 of Round 1 between Brok Weaver and Rodrigo Vargas, Weaver leaving the octagon declared the victor in that bout.
The undercard also brought us an exciting featured bout between Daniel Rodriquez defeating Tim Means, by wrapping it all up at 3:37 of Round 2 with a Sub via Standing Guillotine Choke, but more than anything — the fight to catch on the undercard was Scott ‘Hot Sauce’ Holtzman vs Jim ‘A-10’ Miller, they came away with Fight of the Night, in a brawl that went to the judges scorecard, ending in Holtzman walking away with a Unanimous Decision; overall, we had quite a night of fights with a few decent finishes to discuss with you…
