UFC Rotterdam: Siyar Bahadurzada wants to prove that Matt Brown is indeed mortal next

Siyar was one of those fighters that people had high hopes for after making his UFC debut, a first-round knockout of Paulo Thiago. That as in 2012, and Siyar has only fought five times in that span, gong 2-2, including his big knockout win over Rob Wilkonson last night (Sat., Sept. 2, 2017) in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

To hear him tell it, Siyar has been battling injuries over the last five year, which explains his absence. But, now that he’s back and healthy, he is ready to start winning some fights.

“It felt great because I’ve fought only twice in the last four years,” Bahadurzada said in the post-fight presser via MMA Fighting. “The reason is because I was sick and injured sometimes and I wasn’t able to perform. But I corrected the mistakes and I figured out what I was doing wrong. I corrected it, I’m back, and now I’m here to stay.”

As for what’s next for Siyar, he eyes a standup bout against the always-tough Matt Brown just so he can prove that “Immortal” is in fact the opposite.

“I think Matt Brown will be a good fight,” Bahadurzada said. “He says that he’s immortal, but I will show that he’s pretty much mortal,” he added.

Brown is currently booked to tango with Diego Sanchez at UFC Fight Night 120 this November, so maybe Siyar could matchup with that winner when it’s all said and done. Nevertheless, Bahadurzada sees Brown as the next step to fulfill his real goals.

“I’m back with a vengeance to achieve my dream and I’ll be the champ by 2019,” he concluded. Anyone expect a healthy Siyar to make some noise in the Welterweight division?
