Germaine de Randamie scored a controversial 16-second stoppage on Aspen Ladd in the UFC Sacramento main event.

The top of the UFC Sacramento billing just involved the promotion’s #1 ranked women’s bantamweight Germaine de Randamie stop the #4 ranked Aspen Ladd with just two punches. The first punch GDR threw dropped Ladd, and then one follow up strike landed as referee Herb Dean came in to stop the match. It looked as if Ladd was still defending as the fight was being stopped, and the crowd booed loudly immediately afterward.

Regardless of how anyone feels about the stoppage, GDR picks up another win and has won four-straight fights dating back to 2015. Considering how fast this one ended, perhaps the UFC’s former featherweight champ will become more active than her standard of fighting just once a year. Fingers crossed on that one.

As far as Ladd, yes she was dropped, but was she given a fair chance to recover and fight back? This loss shouldn’t hold much water for the young fighter.
