Leon Edwards just won a strong decision over Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC San Antonio main event.

The marquee matchup for UFC San Antonio just involved the promotion’s #12 ranked welterweight Leon Edwards winning clean decision over the #4 ranked Rafael dos Anjos. The 17-3 Edwards extends his impressive winning streak to eight-straight, and in his post-fight interview called out Jorge Masvidal. We all know why. He also showed interest in a rematch with Kamaru Usman, who was the last man to defeat Edwards back in 2015.

Edwards found an early takedown on the former UFC lightweight champ and was able to eat up some clock from the top. RDA eventually made it back up to his feet and started to work his leg kicks. Edwards landed a couple of sneaky elbows inside of the clinch but RDA ate them without issue.

RDA fought off the early takedown attempt from Edwards in the second act, but started eating punches. A monster leg kick buckled Edwards, giving RDA top position about four-feet from the cage. Edwards scrambled up to his feet and that’s when it became apparent that RDA was bleeding from a couple of different places on his face.

The referee brought in the doctor to take a look at the cuts on RDA’s face to start the third round. The bout was allowed to continue. Edwards continued to outbox RDA and shut down the grappling advances from the former 155-pound champ. RDA pressed forward in the fourth frame throwing at a descent clip. Just when it looked as if RDA was finding a groove, he threw a flying knee that resulted in Edwards scoring a takedown. RDA pressed forward with urgency in the final round, but Edwards did a great job of managing the aggression by grappling. He would tie up whenever RDA would get too close and avoided the big blows.
