The UFC has nixed an event that was slated to take place on the eve of UFC 209.
For the second time this year, the UFC has had to cancel an event.
MMAjunkie reported on Tuesday that UFC Fight Night 106, originally scheduled for March 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada, has been wiped from the calendar. That means there will be no doubleheader weekend, as UFC 209: Woodley vs. Thompson 2 is set for the following day. There were no bouts announced for this card, which was slated to stream on UFC Fight Pass.
In December, UFC officials opted to scrap a January 21st pay-per-view in Anaheim, following a shortage of available champions to headline what was initially billed as UFC 208. The UFC has since pushed its Anaheim date back to August 5th, hence UFC 208 is now in Brooklyn, New York on February 11th.
Here’s the current schedule for the first three months of the year.
Sunday, January 15th – UFC Fight Night: Rodriguez vs. Penn in Phoenix, Arizona
Saturday, January 28th – UFC on FOX 23 in Denver, Colorado
Saturday, February 4th – UFC Fight Night: Bermudez vs. Korean Zombie in Houston, Texas
Saturday, February 11th – UFC 208: Holm vs. De Randamie in Brooklyn, New York
