Mark your calendars for these three UFC events.
The UFC is coming off an international card in Russia, and they’ll have several more lined up throughout the year.
MMA Fighting reported that the Octagon is coming to Montevideo, Uruguay on August 10th for a Fight Night card on ESPN+. It’ll be the UFC’s first ever event in Uruguay, and the fourth different country in South America. In addition to their several visits to Brazil per year, they made debuts in Chile and Argentina in 2018.
Speaking of Brazil, a UFC Fight Night in Sao Paulo is on tap for November 16th at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium. The UFC has gone to Sao Paulo every year since 2013. Its last trip there was headlined by Thiago Santos vs. Eryk Anders in September.
Lastly, the long-reported return to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates is slated for September 7th. This is the first UFC show in that region since a Fight Night card headlined by Roy Nelson’s KO of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira way back in 2014. UFC 112 marked the promotion’s only PPV in Abu Dhabi, a memorably bad event headlined by Frankie Edgar’s controversial upset of B.J. Penn in the main event back in 2010.
It is expected that Khabib Nurmagomedov will defend his lightweight title against interim champion Dustin Poirier in the UFC 242 main event.
